350/30 Corvette Engine

Does the 350 with the .30 bore mean that my engine is a actually a 383? I can't seem to get a decent answer from the guys I got the engine from and I figured it never hurts to ask.

I'm going to try running my purple beast at the track this year and want to gauge how I'm doing based on the correct specs.

no.. to be a 383 it has to have the .30 bore and a different crank with a longer stroke. you mam would be running a 355 if im correct.

Re: 350/30 Corvette Engine

Ahhh...that makes sense. Thanks for the help.

Guess I'll see how she does, then decide if I want another rebuild. Can't imagine why someone would go to all the trouble to rebuild and not replace the crank. The engine was originally built to go into a -- are you ready for this -- Chevette for racing at the local speedway here (75-80), but the project got nixed. When overhauling my car we originally put in an LT4 but the deal fell through and we took it out and didn't have an engine. The guy in the shop next to ours offered us this engine so we really didn't get the details on the specs. Would have loved to keep that LT4 though...some things just aren't meant to be I guess.

Re: 350/30 Corvette Engine

Cool -- that doesn't look any further out than MIR, so it could happen, lol.

Right now I need to make sure everything is doing what it should be -- I've driven well-tuned sports cars before and just know when it feels right or when it feels wrong -- and my car just feels wrong. There's this strange pause for power at quick take offs, especially between first and second gear and I don't think it's the transmission. It's more like the power isn't hitting the wheels -- wondering if I need a new torque converter, shift kit, or something else. I want to take it to a local speed shop, but don't know enough about them to trust my pride and joy with them, you know?

I'll check the schedules and if you're headed to Mason Dixon make sure you post it. If the weather's nice I'll come up just to watch you 'all run.
