I have an 86 tune port 305 IROC that throws a 32 code when it is started the first time each day. If I let the car idle a couple of minutes, shut it off and restart the service engine light stays off. Any ideas would be appreciated.

the code 32 is the egr valve not opening when it should, which is at speeds over 35 mph but mostly at highway seppeds. make sure it is connected and that the flange is moving freely. to test the flange put your fingers under the egr valve and press up. it should move with little effort.

 

I'll try it but I don't understand why the service engine light only comes on the first time I start the car and never comes on any other time or while I'm driving.

There is a wire going to a temp sensor in the EGR valve. If that wire is open or shorted it could cause the light to come on. But I'm with you, it should happen more often than just when you start the car.
