305 TPI to 350 TPI

When swapping a 350 tpi into a original 305 tpi car I asumme you need to change the chip, or do you need to change the whole cpu?

Assuming you'll be using the same ECU (I.E. 730 or 165) between motors, a chip swap will be sufficient.

Few other items also, such as 22# FI and the knock sensor for starters.

In the Chilton book, it tells you tath the MAF cars had a KS that hooked up to the ESC module. In 90-92, the SD cars had a KS that hooked directly to the ECM.

well my buddy has a 305 tpi car...and a 350 hes rebuilding. we are swapping in the 350 in a month or so. I just wasnt sure about the computers. He has bigger injectors for it. Hes taking all the tpi **** off the 305 and putting it on the 350 as far as pulleys and intake and fuel system go. I'll tell him about the knock sensors.

I would think you could swap out the injectors and EPROM and the rest should be the same.

I know a guy here in Calgary who is running his 350 on his old 305 TPI setup. He didn't change his injectors at all and it is running just fine. Our altitude of 3500 ft. might have something to do with it, but I don't know much about fi.

AT WOT, he might run lean because the injector cannot go any further. What did he do to the EPROM? Maybe he compensated by running more pressure with longer pulse width?

Don't know, Aklim. Haven't talked with him for a year or so.
