Question 305 TBI to 350 TPI

A friend in California wants to swap out his 305 TBI and put a new 350 TPI in his 86-87. He does not want to do a "junkyard" swap, he wants to buy a crate motor and the entire TPI setup new. Any suggestions? Remember that this car is in Cali, so will have to be legal under thier crappy smog laws.

Thanks for any help!

If he's looking for all new, check out Scoggin Dickey and their 357HP Vortec TPI motor. It's around 3k and seems like it'd be very nice

Where in California? My dad converted his 92 Camaro to a 350 TPI without too much trouble.

My thoughts exactly.. Bastards built that motor not to long after i designed it and bought a short block l31 to start building it myself. They used a bigger cam though.. but if i knew that back when i bought my cam.. i could have used a custom grind more to their specs or bigger to keep ahead of the competition. The upside of doing it myself is.. even with slp headers, intake base, and all the bolts and gaskets and sealants i bought... engine bearings.. everything.. i still paid around the same amount they want for just the crate. They used 1 7/8th headers too.. . Ugh.. i need a bigger cam, and bigger intake to get the hp i was aiming for. oh well.
