305 Crate

Hi, I am thinking of buying a 1986 Camaro Z28 w/ a 305 crate motor from Autozone. I was just wonderning what the HP and Torque ratings are for a 305 Crate from Autozone and how reliable they are. Thanks

Re: 305 Crate

I didn't even know autozone had crate motors, or that anyone bothered with 305 crates. I'll bet a quick google search could bring up the answer.

Re: 305 Crate

I dont think its so much a "Autozone" crate motor. Its kind of like "ebay" items. Its not really a brand autozone just sells someone elses brand. You probably need to find out what brand it is. As a note when I look at cars personally if there is no paperwork to prove work has been done, it hasn't been done. Thats just me though.

Autozone sales rebuilt engines. They are built to stock specs. 165hp@4400, 250tq@2000

Re: 305 Crate

The chain was for safety, No I'm not fixing it up. yes, it's very fun to drive around. But I got it just for the engine and tranny, and other parts.

Re: 305 Crate

If you're gonna buy a crate motor, at least get a 350. Don't waste money on a 305.
