305 > 454 swap?

305 > 454 swap?

i have a 92 camaro RS , with a 305 and 700r4 transmission, how hard would it be to swap the 305 for a 454? and what would i have to change ?

i have no idea if a 454 would fit but it would be tight if it did. Man a 454 that would be a scary fast car and guaranteed theres no way your existing tranny could stand up to the kind of ponies youd be putting out

the 454 would definitely fit. I remember a while back, Motor Trend had a 454 Camaro test mule ( done up by General Motors ) that they flogged for a bit. They dubbed it "The Angry Poodle" because of it's exhaust note.

Ive heard its really not hard at all to put a big block in a 3rd gen. Your problem is gonna be getting big enough exhaust in to flow adequtely for the beast/

But yeah it will fit....the only guy i know that done it in fact.....KILLED HIS SELF IN IT.

will i have to delete alot of stuff from the engine bay?

The 454 will fit pretty easily with just minor modification. WE had a Chev 454 in an 88 Airex motorhome that we were going to put into my IROC.

That being said, do NOT. . . I repeat do NOT use the 454 with the 700R4. Swap it out for a TH350 or TH400. You'll shatter that poor tranny faster than. . . well yeah.

i figured i'd have to get a different tranny.

what kind of rearend do you suggest? and where would be the best place to buy one?
