305 or 350

I've never stepped foot in the 3rd gen section, but i'm sure this question has been beat to death....but i'll ask it anyway
I'm looking for a decent 3rd gen, and I'm wondering whether or not I should opt for one engine over another if presented with a choice. I would THINK that I would prefer the 350, but not really sure why. Any opinion?
Also, if anyone would care to enlighten me as to exactly what year they introduced the 350 for the Camaro, and in what models....i'm too lazy to look it up right now.

If you want a five speed, a 305 is your only choice unless you want to do a auto-to-manual conversion.

If memory serves the 350 returned in 1987 and was never offered in anything but the Z28 or IROC.

a 305tuned port/manual is pretty evenly matched to a 350tuned port/auto. either one was offered with tuned port injection(tpi), which is what i'd recommend getting. you could also get a TBI 305 or also one with a carb. here's year by year info: http://www.thirdgen.org/tech/techdb.shtml

thanks for the info, that site is pretty informative...and yea, i'm looking for a M5, although if the price was right I would settle for an automatic....I have the M6 in the SS to satisfy the need for a manual

No, there were RS Camaros that came with 350s right from the factory. RPO B4C, but they were very limited in production.

I used to have a 91 formula ws6 with an 350tpi (L98) with slp intale runners, headers and catbsck and it ran better than most LT1s. Also beat lots of 305 with m5's and a4's.
