305 or 350
305 or 350
I've never stepped foot in the 3rd gen section, but i'm sure this question has been beat to death....but i'll ask it anyway
I'm looking for a decent 3rd gen, and I'm wondering whether or not I should opt for one engine over another if presented with a choice. I would THINK that I would prefer the 350, but not really sure why. Any opinion?
Also, if anyone would care to enlighten me as to exactly what year they introduced the 350 for the Camaro, and in what models....i'm too lazy to look it up right now.

a 305tuned port/manual is pretty evenly matched to a 350tuned port/auto. either one was offered with tuned port injection(tpi), which is what i'd recommend getting. you could also get a TBI 305 or also one with a carb. here's year by year info: http://www.thirdgen.org/tech/techdb.shtml
thanks for the info, that site is pretty informative...and yea, i'm looking for a M5, although if the price was right I would settle for an automatic....I have the M6 in the SS to satisfy the need for a manual
my buddy has an 87 trans am with 305 and 5 spd 323 gears all strait from the factory, i have an 89 camaro with 350 and 4 spd auto, 277 gears, also strait from the factory and yeah i can always beat him whe were at the track by about 2 seconds but i have so much more fun in his car i would probably look for a 305 becasue they are alot more common!!
