3 inch duals w/2 inch mufflers
3 inch duals w/2 inch mufflers
As some of your guys know, I have 2 glasspacks that i'm going to put on my camaro, the only downfall is that they are 2" in/out. I was just going to run 2" duals, so its the same as the glass pack diamter, but I was thinking, would it help if I ran dual 3" pipe, then use reducers to go into the glasspacks...Money isn't an object because I get the pipe for free, I'm just wondering if daul 3" pipe would make a big difference over dual 2".
According to your sig you have a 350TPI out of a Vette right? 2" muffler shop duals would severely hurt your performance. Crimp/compression bends are horrible. You'd be better off with a single 2.5", or better yet, a mandrel bent 3" system. Those glasspacks, especially in 2" diameter are just a bad idea. Get it out of your head...
darn the bad luck, now i gotta find somebody to buy those glasspacks off of me...how exactly do you make a mandrel bend...is that where they heat it up, and bend it around so there is no crinkles or creases? I guess i'm just gonna have to wait till i get some money then, how would a couple of bullet mufflers sound on that motor, I heard a sound clip of a C4 vette with dual bullet mufflers and it sounded awesome, and in another exhaust post somebody said bullet mufflers sound the best. Would bullet mufflers be a good choice, and if so, how big?
This is the mandrel bending process.
You are only as good as your tightest point. So, if you collectors are 3 in going into a 2, you have lost something. However, if your collectors are 3 in and you send it into a 5 in system, it is like the difference in speed and volume of your whizz when you **** into a glass or **** into a rubber hose. Either opening is larger than your peehole. In either case, you will not pee more or faster. It is like ricers having that 4 in pipe at the end and a 1 in pipe going into the end. No diff.
without mandrel bends, you will end up choking your exhaust. Going with true duals has no real effect on your car. Wanna find out if it does? Take it off after the cat and run a few laps with it and then put it back on and try it. I did that with my 3 in SLP and noticed no significant difference. I disconnected the exhaust sustem and put the pieces int he car for weight consistency.
