3.73 gears

Does a 92 RS have an electric speedometer? Also, what all is needed for 3.73's to work in my rear-end?

Yup, we have electric speedos. I'm not totally sure about what to do to get it to work. Some kind of gear in your tranny I think

Along with the gears, you will also need an instalation kit. Also, depending on the gears you have now, you probably have a 2 sereis carrier.

ok since you have 2.73 gears i believe you have a series 2 carrier. so MAKE SURE you look for gears for a series 2 or they wont work.

also for a stock tbi i think 3.73 gears are too steep. the stock tbi doesnt move enough air for those gears. 3.23s or 3.42s might be a better choice.

as always this is my thoughts so correct me if im wrong.

87cam, I heard 3.73s really wake up a 4th gen V6 so I figured that would work good in my car also. But you tell me what you think.

Iroc, How much you want for them? How much would shipping be? Also, what size are the gears????

Well....I was going to spend between $100 & $120 on gears but shipping will cost a good bit from Chicago to here so.....I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Thumbs up

373 gears will work great in a TBI car. Some cars with 140 HP run them and don't have a problem. I have worked in dealership service dept for over 20 years and it has never been a problem. Hope this helps.

Thanks man, I just needed to know whether they will work or not. I know I'll lose gas mileage but who cares.....that's just part of having a V8.

i had a stock 305TBI engine i ran 3.73's in it and i was walkin 350tpi's in iroc's and GTA's.
mines was a 91.
then igot another 91 that had a dula TBI350 and 3.73's.
that blewup ay 190k miles and is now getting 406 and 4.11's with a 2,200 rpm stall so it should go from 13.80's to 12.60's easy.
so that will be TBI dual TBI but non the less TBI,it will beat tpi"S and lt1's ls1's and so on when all done.
so yes TBI and performance xan go together.
