200k Miles!

My car clicked over to 200k miles today.. New crate 350 only has 20k on it, but other than that it's amazing how long this car has lasted, i've only had it for the past 40k but it's still amazing. About time for another tune up.... im gonna have to spend another vicious 8+ hours switching out the spark plugs ><

I beat ya! Hit 200K early last month. Still running strong with the original L98!

Re: 200k Miles!

My L98 spun a rod bearing last month at only 127K

She's in the middle of a rebuild right now.

Re: 200k Miles!

I have 153k on mine. She still runs good but the valve seals are shot and she started leaking a little oil recently (rear main seal I think).

Should not take you 8 hours to change plugs, though. Get underneath for some of them.

My LS1 only takes a couple hours!

Good luck!

200,000 miles? WOW! Sounds like one of the most fun daily drivers a person could have.

I just crossed 40,000 kms on mine yesterday ('89) and I felt like I had passed some sort of milestone.

Mine is still running strong at 239,000 miles. I'm gonna run her as long as she still has good power or comes apart.

I don't know about that. I've made close to 200 passes at the track so it sees its fair share of whooping. Not to mention the stoplight wars, lol. Maybe it's the synthetics!

I whup the **** out of mine too. I do take care of its needs though. I'm also quick to repair little problems that can get bigger. The three-five-oh is a very tough beast to kill. You almost have to be stupid with it.

Re: 200k Miles!

199,900 on my wife's 92 Camaro with original 305 TBI engine. I yanked it and dropped in a much stronger carbureted 350 around 195K or so. The TBI motor was still running just peachy when I yanked it. Of course those little 305 TBI motors don't make enough power to hurt themselves.

The car STILL has the original 200K mile trans with stock converter in it, though. It needs a rebuild and shift kit, but still holds every gear and gets the car going good enough to run mid 13s so far.
