2 to 4 bolt main conversion

can it be done? i know someone with a mill/lathe, he "suggested" i convert the block....i don't know if he was serious.....i mean, id buy some 4 bolt main caps from summit or something, and then it would simply be a matter of drill/tap right?

you can buy splayed caps, either way your going to have to have a machine shop align bore the mains. 2 bolt mains are good to roughly 450 HP.

if the engine is being built and you are gonna spray the hell out it , its worth the cash.....dont rebuild the motor just for that.

its gonna run you 500+$$ for parts and machine work, something to think about.

I wouldn't recommend it unless your looking to rev alot higher.

The 4 bolt just adds stability to the crank. The 2 bolt should have no problems at 6000 or possibly even more. 7000+ I would go 4 bolt. Also, something to look at... you can have the caps, machined, and such for 500, or a Dart Little M block shipped to your house for about 1650 or so.

Although the price just trippled, take a look at what you get out of it.
