Question 1991 RS Starter

when i tried starting my car the starter turned but the car didn't fire what could be the problem? do i need a new starter?

If you only heard it spin then the starter is shot. When the starter turns it is supposed to engage against the flywheel (flexplate), yours isn't enagaging

If the motor turned over, then the problem is not the starter.

Check for the usual. Fire, gas, air.

i has only done it twice and it sounded as if the starter wasnt catching on the flexplate

It will only get worse from there. But it will last a little while if you need it to (just embarass you occasionally).

Did it make more of a weeeezing noise? Mine did that for about a week then nearly went out on me at a gas station. I had to try about 9 times before it caught. My dad said it had something to do with the Bendix, but I wasnt sure what it was so I just bought a freakin new starter

i was told by my friends next door neighbor that it might have something to do with the bendix but i dont know what that is either can you find out from your dad what it is?
