Talking 1991 GTA Trans Am

Okay guys here is the deal. I am in process of picking up a 1991 GTA TPI 350. Hell yeah lol. Anyway I was looking into aftermarket and I want to know what kind of stuff is available for the engine to make good power.

What I am looking to do is Intake from the CAI to the manifold. Rockers. MAYBE a cam (but only if I have to). Ignition from the dist to the plugs. And exhaust from the headers to the tips. But not the fuel system like injectors or fuel pump (dont want to worsen gas mileage)

Now I do realize there is more power to be made with heads and cam but I want to keep this thing semi-reliable. I dont want to put to much money into it because its just going to be my daily driver. Basically I cannot afford to have the car down for any length of time.

I guess the just of it all is; How much horsepower can I squeeze from this puppy without affecting street manners, fuel economy and reliability.

What about this setup?

Holley stealth ram plenum
SLP intake runners
Edylbrock intake manifold
Holley 58mm throttle body

How much would this setup produce over stock?

And actually how much hp would a 350 tpi make at 5000ft? I heard 245 is stock so i figured 220.

If its your daily driver I would get gears and converter..headers and exaust.......Leave the motor alone and just build a new one
those little bolt ons aren't worth the money for the gain you get

Sweet car btw....

Yea as said above a converter would be ur best bet. Gears an exhaust. Make sure to post some pics of car when you get it.

Forget the 58MM throttle body, it's way too big for anything under 400 RWHP. Stick to 52mm if you feel the need to upgrade.
Get an exhaust system FIRST, intake base SECOND, Cold-air intake THIRD, runners & plenum FOURTH, then get some suspension pieces fifth, followed by a torque converter. That will probably cover the most important bolt-ons.

You dont need runners with stealthram. It's it's own intake system. All you need is the base and the plenum. Also fuel rails and all that good stuff. If emissions aren't a problem, I'd say go for it. Otherwise the SR doesn't have EGR provisions, and you won't pass the sniffer.

Also the highest performing L98/B2L motors were rated at 245 from the factory. This translates to a bit less in the real world or rwhp. I would think around 215 to the wheels. Mine did 214. torque should be right around 300-315 to the wheels. I don't know how badly altitude will affect it. But you won't see much out of a stealthram if you stick with the stock heads and cam. An improvement yes, but it could make a lot more power.

Will

Okay cool, this is the stuff I was looking to know. But at the end of that list what is an expectable HP number? 250 300?

I agree on the 52MM throttle body. I wanted the 58MM so bad. They only cost like $18 different. I bought a new crate engine from Scoggin Dickey, not L98, and it has 360HP and they recommended I only use a 52MM. It was tough to accept that cause of course you want to brag about the 58MM. I've modded my motor quite a bit but you can look at my sig. and figure out some stuff to do.

Cheaper to buy it like this http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

This should all be good for about 60HP
Which is tpi baseplate W/matching runners, adj. fuel pressure reg., underdrive pully, headers W/Y pipe.
