My dads camaro which he bought a few months ago. He had a mechanic look at it but couldnt find anything, he ran computer tests. the car has a hard idle and the rpm and oil gauges jump up and down. recently it started to not go over 20 mph and will stall at stop lights and stop signs. now the camaro will not start.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? It should be 43psi minimum

 

I hope that Im wrong but to me it sounds like the engine turns over to fast ??
could be the timing chain broke has it always turned over so fast?
and the guy checked to see if the plug was getting fire? and that you're getting fuel ??

 

Fuel filter was changed, fuel pressure was perfect. It'll turn on after it cools, then when hot it idles rough and while driving. We tried heet to clean fuel injectors and worked for a day then back to busted. Today it was doing ok the it wouldn't shift out of 1st.(automatic)

 

Have you checked the ICM?
'87-'92 distributors do take a dump after a while. So I would definitely pull it out and check it for excessive play in the shaft. A remand unit is about 100.00 its just another part to check....
