1985 IROC worth $500.00

Found this w/o engine or trans. Original wheels, interior, and straight red paint is on the car. Has T tops also. Is it worth it?? If I buy this, we will put a 500 hp 383 and a 200r4 behind it. (don't know what rear gear is in it). Looking to build a hot street (mid 11.xx)/bracket car. opinions?

In my buddies berlinetta he bought for $300 (that totally smoked his 3rd gen formula BTW ) we tried to fit anything and everything into that thing to see what it could be used for and a pack of cigarettes fits PERFECT.

its a good buy if ur looking to do somethin like that too. but a non-t-top car would be better b/c its a little lighter and more rigid. yes u can put subframe connectors in and all that, but still wouldnt be as good as a hardtop w/ sub frames...especially if ur lookin at the E.T./speed

If the body's in good shape with good paint and no rust it's worth $500. It's getting harder and harder to find a nice condition 3rd gen chassis.....

If you don't want it email me the info...I might just pick it up myself.

if its a good chassis why not. Heck put a 10 point cage in and who cares that its a t-top because it really doesnt matter!!! If you have the cash to spend and the ambition to do it why do you need to even ask?!!?!?!? I never understood why people ask if they should do a fix it up project or not....well umm can you afford to? Do you want to? If you said yes to both questions then why are you still asking if you should?

There are new stipulations in 2004 for NHRA T-top cars you may want to check out.

A built 2004R is STRONGER than a built 700R4... Several companies/racers have 200's in the 9s.

I'm sinking cash into an 84 Camaro, (non Z28!) and loving it. Of course, it looks great with the paint and ground effects from an 87 IROC.

The body I started with was rust free, straight, and lightweight. I feel it is a fantastic platform for some horsepower.

AFR head 383 coming sometime before June '04. Hey, I'm not a billionare so these things take time.

what do you mean lightweight? as opposed to z28's or opposed to other cars? i would think that they would weigh the same as the z28 acceppt without the ground effects the v8 and the small suspension differences.
but you put the ground effects on and your upgrading to a v8, so are the non z28's a lighter body all around?
