10.20's?
Re: 10.20's?
If you want to run 10.20's consistently on your 18yr old car/drivetrain, you are going to have to rebuild/upgrade everything (motor/tranny/rear/suspension)!
So the question is up to you-
Do you want to use totally different pieces (crate motor/aftermarket tranny/ 9" or 12 bolt) and maybe sell what you have to balance out some cost?
or
completely beef up your existing set up ( maybe stroke the motor and build for power adder/ mod tranny bigger stall/ gears-posi strength rear/ suspension upgades)
Either way is possible. Doubt you will get there (reliably/consistently) with out rebuilding existing set up.

Re: 10.20's?
What kinda setup are you looking at? All motor? Nitrous fed? Does the thing have to be able to drive on the street or are you going to trailer it to the track? Because a 10.2 is one hell of a street car. Youre looking at the what 800-900 ish hp with a car this heavy, possibly even more power. Youre not running more then 500 hp through a factory block, and god knows youre not running anything close to that through a factory transmission or rear end.
Re: 10.20's?
Dont count on having a car that runs that fast NA that has anything that resembles street manners. It may be physically possible to drive it on the street but you aint sitting in rush hour traffic in the beast.
The only way to truly make a car run that fast and be streetable is either nitrous or forced induction. My buddies dad has the fastest car in north america that is actually fully driveable on the street, ie he drives it to kentucky and back every year for the Buick meet they have down there. Its a C4 with a 4.1L turbocharged V6 that runs a consistent 9.7 on E/T streets. To be able to go that fast on the track you have to be able to turn it down for the street, either by adjusting your wastegate to change your turbos output or by changing your pulleys on a blower. Turbo cars are probably easier to tune down when you want to go for a sunday drive because theres no changing parts out.

If you could, I would give Nick and Eric my business at Victory Racing. If you're talking about the place in Michigan.
We just got one of their pissed off 385 LT1's fired up last night. Man is that thing wicked.

Re: 10.20's?
It can be done with a 350 with a little bit of bottle. I had to drive my car back and forth to work this week due to my daily having problems (45 miles total) and my car had no problems (in traffic, etc). My car is perfectly streetable. Well, except for when it rained...MT ET radials do not work well in the rain.
