I'll take some credit for ProCharger creating a stage II kit for the Camaro. We are doing things with out Camaro that are not typical of the intended use. An example would be the CTS-V brakes. The CTS-V holds the record for the fastest production sedan to EVER run the Nurburing. Not a Benz, not a Masserati QP a Cadillac. we run Cadillac CTS-V brakes. The engineers at GM told me the brakes from the CTS-V including the pads would be more than adequate for our use. They were not. The calipers and rotors are fine. We have had to have custom made pads from a racing company Cobalt Friction for our next track session. The car runs much faster than a CTS-V, much faster.

Intense use like this creates heat. We do run a 2.5 quart Fluidyne oilcooler, but that doesn't change IATs. After a coiple of laps, the IATS would climband the ECM would pull out timing. While our corner exit speeds were up, our straight away speeds declined becuase of this. The new 'RACE' intercooler brings down IATs. In fact it works so well that the IATs for boosted air aree the same as ambient air tempurature.

Long story short we are NOT over heating. We just wanted tio keep the power we make lap after lap.

so is this pro charger stage II kit out now? these cts-v brakes are probably the same that will be used on this "z28" we speak of? kinda looks like them in some of the pictures i have seen. its a great ,cheap alternative to buying a big brake package from brembo, baer or even stoptech. and their 2 piece in the front and lighter.

What is on my car is now the Stage II at ProCharger. The CTS-V / Z28 brakes are an AWESOME upgrade to a 5th Gen.

Thanks Pete! Despite my attempt at suicide by dirt bike three weeks ago (long story...), I'm doing well. My shoulder is still hurting, but memory writes seem to be functional again I was very lucky I didn't break more than a suspected rib.

I really enjoyed seeing the Pedders car at Carlisle. I was sorry that there was no one around when I stopped by. Were you there?

yes I was, but probably looking for a cooler spot. I met up with a number of Camaro, G8 and GTO owners and went to check out their rides. Sorry to hear about your incident. Get well and stay well.

In CamaroZ28.Com Podcast #259, we strongly suggested that everyone read this very thread. We really, really think it is chock full of awesome info. Thanks again, Pete!

Very, very awesome thread! I don't even own one of these cars, and I'm loving it!

I am wondering if there is any way to fab up a cold air intake for that big blower? I see the vent from the hood trying to dump air onto the filter, but it appears that the filter is sucking in a BUNCH of HOT air. Maybe a box similar to the 4th Gen SS intake sealed to the hood? And then it might be worth it to put some kind of heat vents either in the hood behind the scoop or possibly in the fenders?

the filter location is one of the reasons i am concidering vortech over procharger. unless procharger can somehow make this a longer intake to the front end ,similar to vortechs intake. maybe someone can custom fabricate an intake to make it go to the front of the car.
