V6 Turbo Kits, part II

ok, I've got a lock on a supplier who can make CAST Iron exhaust manifolds and SS downpipes for the V6. I can get the project done, but basically I will need to pre-sell at least 12 full kits.

Now, with the high Compression Ratio, I'm looking at a medium sized turbo that will have a bit of lag, but peak PSI would probably be 5-6 lbs. Now, with upgraded intake and exhaust, in combination with the right timing and innercooling, the V6 should be able make 400 hp or possibly more. This will be a premium fuel only kit, methanol or alcohol injection will be absolutely necesary if you are to change out the wastegate spring and run more boost. If we sell more than 100 kits we will also be able to offer forged Pistons that will take the CR down some.

We are looking at roughly 3800 to 4200 dollars, which will include;
1 handheld tuner with a preset tune,
1 set of cast iron manifolds (ceramic coating optional)
1 crossover pipe
1 Downpipe
1 turbo (specs not confirmed yet)
1 wastegate (possibly internal)
1 blow off valve
intake tubing, connectors and clamps
innercooler tubing connectors and clamps
Front mount innercooler
Adjustable Fuel pressure regulator
Boost-a-pump type fuel pump (if needed)
Injectors (if needed)
A-pillar boost gauge
basic turbo timer
turbo oil lines
oil line adapter to oil filter
misc fittings.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm seriously seriously not trying to bash the idea but for $4,200 wouldn't it be more cost effective to buy a SS? I am trying to understand the benefit of a Turbo over just buying a 1SS?

Well, there is the gas mileage and insurance. Some people like the idea of a Turbo 6. Either way, I'm not seeing much of a market for it and will probably focus on the LS3.... for now. I'm sure in about 1.5 years there will be a small market and in 5 years there will be a big market for it.

Agreed. When the price of the 2010 Camaro V6 comes down a bit and they can be purchased USED, there will probably be a pretty good market for it.

If I got 15 orders I could make it. With the V8 I've had numerous people pm me saying they want one, none with the V6.

However the more I think about that 11:1 CR and it just doesn't go that well with boost. A 5 lb kit would be fine, but in order to go higher you need to change the pistons to at the most 9.5:1. Then you are moving backwards and the mileage will suffer.

Also you need to think about what car would most V6 Camaro owner think about beating on the street or track, that the couldn't beat normally. In this case - the logical choice would be the Mustang GT.

Since the Turbo system would generate - L99-LS3 kind of hp numbers - it would be a bit over kill.

A better option for allowing V6 owners to taking out Mustang GTs - would be a 35-50hp Nitrous system. It would certainly give the greatest bang per buck.

To go with the Nitrous system - think about other kinds of V6 N/A performance enhancements - like Air Induction, Exhaust, and Port & Polish(heads, & TB). That way the owner can decide what's within their budget & just how much do they want to enhance their cars.

I don't think you could go out and buy a new V6 Camaro and justify the cost of heads and cam which most likely still won't match the stock power/torque of a V8 Camaro...
