Transmission swaps

Transmission swaps
Hey everyone,
I'm actually building a 2011 Camaro SS 6-speed for road course racing next month. I really do not have a lot of experience with GM vehicles. After looking at the stock gear ratios in the Camaro SS gearbox. We tried to decide if we wanted to just replace the gears or maybe get another box. It was suggested by a friend who races corvettes that the transmission is the TR6060 in both the corvettes and Camaro.
He suggested just bolting on a ZR1 gearbox which can be purchased for about $4,000.
Does anyone know if this is correct, or has anyone done it? I'm mainly interested in if it is truly just a bolt on installation and no other parts are needed, or will we need to change clutches, etc...
If anyone has any input I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Andrew

Re: Transmission swaps
Alright, just realized how stupid of a question this was... the Corvette uses a "transaxle" the Camaro has a rear diff... so no they're never going to bolt up. I guess we may just end up going into the Camaro's box and changing gear ratios then.

Re: Transmission swaps
Yeah, someone else had mentioned RPM transmissions and said they were great with T56/TR6060s we may just open the box and swap the gears out... Or just save the money and use the SS box.
I know the car will be making a lot of torque, but it bothers me that 3rd and 4th are really the only useable gears on track. Maybe 5th on really high speed tracks, but I worry about the Camaro's aero for that.
