Anybody try this yet? From what I hear, in the manual it states that on the SS manual only (obviously) you can press in the clutch, floor it, and the rpm's will hover at a predetermined rpm range until you dump the clutch providing optimal launch. Must be performed from a stand still (stop).

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

 

i can confirm this!
actually i am not sure about the hovering rpm. but i have used it once or twice to check it out and from what i noticed more than the hovering rpm, is the wheels hop is very limited. which is basically what the competative mode is for.

 

Good deal. There was more about what the car does at the rear but I couldn't remember. So the rpm's will just continue to climb in that mode?

i not sure if they climb or float. ill try it out this week and let you know. every other time i tried it i was smiling so big i couldnt see the guages!

i can confirm this, not 1st time the 1st time i was'nt sure so i slowly pushed the throttle down, and the car went to 6000rpm, so i knew it was'nt right so i stopped. today i went out put in competive mode, push clutch in and just smashed the throttle and it went to 4600rpm and stayed their i didn't dump the clutch kinda rolled my foot off and it left kinda slow for 5 feet,so it wouldn't spin hard left a 3 foot mark, then it took off, it is pretty bad ***.

 

I can confirm turning the traction control completely off provides the best launch. As long as the tires are heated and stick well. The TC really limits the initial launch to control wheel spin. I do run an auto but have tuned the pcm/tcm to their max and there is a noticeable difference between all TC modes. I am assuming the TC works the same on the M6 as is does on the A6 minus the 4600rpm, I can only get about 3400rpm on the launch.

Press an hold the TC button for about 10 seconds to turn it off completely.

 

actually all you have to do is press the button once and it turns it off. the icon even shows up on the dash showing its off.

correction: you do have to hold the button down for 10 secconds to turn traction totally off.

 

from what i see you press the button once it takes traction control off but stable track is on,stable track will apply brake pressure to witch ever tire needs it so the car goes straight, it feels pretty crazy, to totally take off all traction you will have to push hold for 10sec, their will be 2 icons in the dash @ this time one will look like a burnout and the other has a tc with circle around it,then you will have no traction control or stable trrck on @ this time and it rips the tires off lol.competive mode you push 2x fast and then you will have the burnout icon, it will not burnout very good that way if @ all.
