for some odd reason i have a feeling gm has something really restricted on the new camaro.. like a really restrictive exhaust or air intake.. the car isnt going to be much faster then a 02 ss .. so i think there is something holding it back alittle what do you guys think..

Weight hurts, obviously...but the LS3 SS is expected to be a 12.9 car. Not terrible and I don't know how many stock LS1 cars can do that, and if they can or get close, they are factory freaks.

I'm thinking intake, exhaust and a good tune will do wonders for it! You ever see the gains from a Sierra Denali 6.2 engine? MAJOR difference!

Just a CAI and a tune on a G8 GT will gain over 30hp. We'll have to see what the LS3 & L99 can gain. Take a look at a Corvette forum for LS3 gains.

Heck, I built a whole new site dedicated to modding my car. http://www.phantomss.com

I will still post updates here, though.

Ditto - and no stock LS1 4th gen ever hit 111 mph in the 1/4 mile.

This "it's not much quicker than a 4th gen" talk is being thought about the wrong way - it's commentary on how good the 4th gen was, not commentary on how "slow" the 5th gen is. Basically, don't be upset because of how screaming fast a stock 4th gen was. Fact is a 98-02 V8 F body is can still hang with a 2009-2010 Mustang GT. And then the 5th gen comes along and drops the 0-60 time to 4.7 (which no stock 4th gen did) and lays down what appear to be reliable, repeatable 12s at 111. That's fast and quick.

Cool. Do this...
  1. Go to http://www.phantomss.com
  2. Look in the upper right hand corner
  3. Enter your e-mail in the box, Click submit
  4. Confirm subscription in the e-mail that is sent.
  5. Wait for cool stuff to happen and get notified quickly.
That way, you don't have to check your bookmarks or risk missing when I post here.

No spam, you can unsub any time with a single click, data is safe and never leaves my control.

So go do it!

But I didn't mean to hijack...
