Curious on what you will all be getting!

 

Been my debate for weeks...going on months. I ordered an M6 but changed it to an A6. I don't think I will change it back...tough...tough...

 

I just don't know if that automatic will do it for me. There's nothing like holding in that clutch on a 420hp car and dumping it and tearing up the streets......

 

I agree...but there is also nothing like holding the gas to the floor and still rowing through the gears in a very precise manner. We are talking the closest thing to F1-inspired technology in a Camaro for the first time ever, and from what I am told, there is serious focus on the performance of the A6. It is no gimmick.

 

I agree, can not wait to drive my SS with the A6/paddles! I know it will be a blast.

 

I'm on the fence but leaning to the Manual. If I get the auto, my wife can drive it, which is a plus and a minus.

The paddles almost seem pointless. I understand the way they work and how to use them, but its just not the same.

I actually got to drive a 'Vette from Baltimore MD to Easton PA for my dealership, and it had the paddles. I took the windey way home. It was fun, but it just didn't feel the same. I feel if I had the paddles, I would just ride in normal auto mode all the time.

 

I think if i was crusiing around, sure...but if I want to turn it up, I will enable the paddles and crank that sucka' up.

To me, it would be like having a manual and driving it easy and then taching it up and speed shifintg when I feel like playing.

Besides...forced induction is better with an A6 IMO, in this case.

 

cool another one turned on to the the 6L80e, this should be a great trans and with a stall and some tuning it will be a very good trans to take out the m6 guys

 

except launching a 550+ hp engine with a stall converter and some sticky tires, i cant wait

 

When I have to drive an automatic, id rather just let it shift itself. It isn't fun to push a button and wait for the thing to respond. While I understand that automatics are better at some things like drag racing or offroading, there is a reason neither my camaro nor my truck are automatics. It just isn't fun to drive without instantly felling the change in the engine when you hit the gas or the feeling of being a badass as you heel-toe and downshift right before a corner then slide the rear a bit as you exit.

 

From what I hear, they are pretty serious about having it be very responsive.

 

Tapshift as long as it isn't like the Lexus GS400s which would take the shift requests as a "suggestion" rather than actually doing it when you needed it.

 

I know upshifts on most GM manumatics will not shift unless you actually shift, some even let you wait right up unitl the redline, like the C6 Vette. As far as downshifts, it usually downshifts by itself when you slow down if you do not shift manually. The Vette I believe downshifts to 2nd gear automatically if no manual shift has occurred, so if you stop and take off again at say a traffic light, then you would start off in 2nd gear.

 

I really wish I could test drive both the tap shift and stick shift, and see which one is better. Because sometimes there's a crap tap shift gear box and it ruins the fun of the car, and sometimes theres a lazy stick shift on a car. I really hope GM did both really well so no one feels like one is superior to another.... In this way we can keep up the arguement.

 

manual for me. i love shifting through the gears. especially down shifting and spinning the tires!
