Is a electric water pump better

Cool Is a electric water pump better

Whatup fellow camaro owners

I have a 1996 z28 5.7 and i'm about to replace the water pump.And i want your input on manual water pump verse electric water pump.

Go with a good quality stock unit if the car is mostly street driven. IMO an EWP is mostly designed to go 1/4 mile at a time....I had kicked the idea around myself at one point

Electric water pumps take a bit of load off the engine, which frees up some horsepower. That's good for a drag car, and if it fails on a dedicated drag car, it's not the end of the world. However, on a street-driven daily driver, water pump failure is 100% not okay. Mechanical pumps are much more reliable (and they're cheaper too!), and I'll trade a couple horsepower for that bit of insurance.

Ive been running an ewp on my car or 7 years now...its been dd'd...long road tripped...and (knock on wood) still kickin.
