Must be. I have never had what I consider "bad" gas, even traveling outside the Midwest. I have heard good things about the additives in Amoco Ultimate (still available at BP stations). I usually buy whatever (Casey's up to name brand stuff) for my 1998 Regal GS and it runs great. I usually am a little more selective for the Camaro (Amoco, Mobil, Shell).

I use BP all the time, mostly because they bought out Amoco which was what I always used before. Amoco gas was consistantly rated the "best" by consumers, whatever that's worth. Anyway, I've never had any problems.

I'd also use Mobil, then any of the other name brands. I'm not one to get gas at a fly-by-night station, not even in my S10.

That's interesting because it is HIGHLY illegal for a station to do this. They're ripping you off. If caught they would incur huge fines. But just how would you prove something like this? Makes you wonder if it does happen more than you think....

I only say that for two reason, a few years back in got to know an older gent that owned a gas station, from what he said was when things get real competitive or money tight some will do just that, also it could be from the distributing plant-putting the wrong gas in the truck-From what he had said. Second, It is like flipping a switch, as soon as I would fill the tank with gas from some of these gas stations and hit the freeway I could actually watch my mpg drop in just the first few minutes. I have a stretch of flat freeway I use to test them, its long enough to reset the gage a few time. Also as I run the tank down I could not get the mpg's up even if I was coasting down hill. That is no lie!! As soon as I can get the tank down to a quarter I fill it up with what I know is good gas and just like flipping that switch again, up go the mpg. Now I have seen this with my drag cars but not this obvious with a street car. Living so close to the mexico boarder I do know that the gas in mexico does even worse. It is just flat out bad bad gas.

100% Gas vs Ethanol Gas

Was the gas from the same gas station? Did it have ethanol in it? I have noticed when I use ethanol gas (up to 10% ethanol) my gas mileages goes down about 15% in my 03' Avlanche. I have seen several other vechicles drop their gas mileages also. In Oklahoma; gas station are required to post on their pumps if they are using 100% Gas or Gas with up to 10% ethanol. Just my observation.
