Would you buy a hybrid Camaro?

If one was available, what parameters would you like it to have?

Fuel economy (desirable)?
Price (How much more than a non-hybrid car would you pay)?
Horsepower?
Engine (V6/V8)?

I would not.

The additional cost and weight would not be enough to justify the relatively small fuel economy increase.

No, I would not consider one. I'd rather see better internal combusion engine technology than a hybrid. I am unconvinced of the cost savings benefit of a hybrid system. Direct injection, variable valve timing, redesigned heads, etc etc are all things I'd pay more $$$ for, and they would incur a small weight penalty compared to a set of batteries.

If I had the choice between a V8 and a V8 for more $$$ with a hybrid drivetrain, I'd go standard V8. I'm not in the market for a V6 Camaro, but I imagine a hybrid system would be a better seller there.

For me hybrid is not a muscle car. If I wan a hybrid car I will look else where. But I want a muscle car and nothing else.

Had you asked me last year... HELL NO.

However, now I would consider it.

Cost and perfomance would be the biggest factors. Minimal performance loss, with only a couple thousands dollar more sticker price, yeah, I might buy one.

To be perfectly honest. I no longer think I'll be getting a V-8 camaro. The initial purchase price (monthly payment), insurance, and fuel costs will most likely keep it out of the price range I want to be in. If GM can make a hybrid that has some real performance to it, for minimal costs, I'm all for it. Hell, the greenies will be all over it! A sports car that gets better fuel mileage than a camry!

I'd want a BAS+ hybrid Camaro. It'd only offer a mild increase in fuel economy (like +4), but it'd be cheaper then the all-out two-mode system.

Fuel economy (desirable)?
23mpg city / 29 mpg hwy (~+4mpg from a non-hybrid Camaro: 18/25)

Price (How much more than a non-hybrid car would you pay)?
2 thousand

Horsepower?
They'd have to maintain the 400hp number in the V8, and 300+ in the V6

Engine (V6/V8)?
Either

Bingo. No mileage extenders for me, although I am intrigued by the upcoming Volt.

I would definitely consider one if it provided the same acceleration or better than the non-hybrid version.

I really like the Lexus GS450h. Accelerates faster with the hybrid motor.

Greenie Camaro

Yeah I would probably buy one as long as its split times were still impressive. A 4 cylinder with battery assist should be able to still put up good times but Imho it probably wouldn't be able to compete with other 4 cylinders because of the weight issues.

No. Turbo diesel would be much more attractive to me.

No, but not because I think it's a bad idea. I think there's probably a market for a hybrid Camaro and that if there's a good business case for it and it sells more Camaro's, I'm all for it. I personally am just not interested in owning one but I do want flexfuel capability. I'd be interested in AFM, but if having AFM means sacrifices being able to modify the car, I'll pass. Sorry, got a little off topic.

I also think around 4 mpg more than the regular version would be cool, and I'd probably be willing to pay a couple of thousand more for it, provided I was comfortable with it. That means being confident in the technology, and in my ability to adapt to it.

I might even take a slight, and I mean very little loss in hp, as long as I could get on the interstate and be able to change lanes without getting run over. I'd imagine it to have a V6, and I might accept that. I was sure hoping something else was going to take off, though, like E85. Doesn't look like it, though.

I think hybrids are just like vitamins, and colon cleansers it’s just a bunch of BS. You only get 2 - 4 mpg increase it will be nearly 10 + years before you see your money working for you if you by a hybrid. I like to see a V6 turbo in the Camaro, I probably consider that over a V8.

I'm going for a V8, but for say the wife or little lady who if likes the Camaro but doesn't need the power and would rather have some fuel economy and the style, why not go for a hybrid option.

To show how far off this is, I'm single with no marriage prospects nor even interested yet.

I voted no. How much weight does it add to cars that offer it now?

Weight and added cost would kill it for me.
