Will SLP be involved?

I don't have the greatest opinion of SLP, so i can't answer this on my own, but i was just wondering if you guys think they should be involved with the 5th gen. Sure they'll make aftermarket stuff, but what about factory options?

No, not for OE content.

The aftermarket stuff will be there, but SLP engineering, the part of the team that did the Firehawks and SSs, is dismantled. Unless something changes, there aren't going to be any SLP cars.

Thats what I was about to say. Which is the only part worth talking about.

Re: Will SLP be involved?

I asked Ed Hamburger if SLP would have any involvement in the new car, and he just said that it was being looked at, and they would be involved on some level, but didn't know to what extent yet. This was the morning of the unveil, so I would guess he was, in reality, in the dark for the most part. It's hard to say at this point how things will shake out, but w/ the GM performance division now in place, I find it unlikely we'll see an SLP car.

Yeah, any "special editions" would most likely be done by GMPD.

Re: Will SLP be involved?

SLP was a convenient backdoor tool, to give the underfunded and neglected 4th gen some added interest.

I get the impression that such remedies won't be needed on the 5th gen.

Unless they're going to convert it to a real race car (91/92 Firehawk), I'd rather it be left alone.

Re: Will SLP be involved?

I had a meeting with Ed Hamberger at work a few monts back and he had no comments at that time.

SLP has a line of add on body parts and scoops now and that was his main focus along with his up grade packages.

He said he had no involment with a GM factory program but was driving a Enoy with MFG Michigan plates???

My question is that I have heard Roush was looking into a Camaro program. Roush has done a lot of work for GM privately, are they ready to do more than just Ford cars publicly?

That was Ed, not Dave. Dave didn't make it to Detroit for the unveil.
