Note that there is a single cam version and a twin cam version - both with patents.

I didn't have time to read all of it, but on the single cam 3v, are they patenting the 3v or their particular solution for it? I'm not sure of Fords arrangement, so I'm guessing its the packaging. The 2 cam version is certainly interesting! Note the date...3 and a half years ago!

Those are awesome, nice find.

Check out the dual spark plug setup on pg. 3 of the dual cam engine's patent.

Notice that Fred Rozario, who is the GM engineer who accompanied the 3V CTS-V in the one story and is quoted in AW in the other, is listed as one of the inventors for the single cam 3V.

Re: Whoa!!! Patents and DETAILED engineering drawings of the 3V smallblock!

Remember the XV8 engine in the Signum concept from a few years ago?

It had two, in block cams and three valve heads!

http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_1193/article.html

Some features:

4.3 L
300 HP
Small Size
Direct injection
DoD (AFM Now)
3-valve heads
2 in block cams
VVT and cam phasing

Didn't Scott allude to not being stuck with the "LS" designation for the engines?
