When to expect my order?
When to expect my order?
I orderedmy camaro in early january of this year. I ordered AFTER GM released the news that they had over 10,000 pre-orders. I've also read on this site that They will be building 5,000 cars/month, and that half of them MUST be V6's. That means they can build 2,500 V8's per month. Furthermore, they are starting production on monday, 16 march.
Under that logic, it will be at least 4 months after 16 march that I can expect my car to be ready. So, should I casually expect my car to be ready for pickup in the end of July, or does anyone have any better guestimates?

your math assumed that all 10,000 pre-orders are for V8 equipped cars. While I'm sure the pre-orders favor the V8s more heavily than overall demand will, I don't think it'd be that strong of a favorite. Also, who knows how many of those pre-orders are going to fall through due to recent economic events. Having said that, I have NO CLUE when you'll get your camaro. I just felt like being part of the post and giving my 2 cents... (this kind of behavior isn't out of the ordinary around here, is it? haha)
the production is goign to speed up after they getthings going good and after they see how things are running. the number of cars made in the first few weeks is going to be low but after a while it will speed up.
majority of the sales are v8 cars.

I was curious if anyone else liked my logic.
V8 pre-orders are roughly 3:1 from what I've read. Assuming a 50/50 production split, factoring in the "freebie" dealer V6 showroom cars, the cars coming out in "equal" numbers makes sense; at least initially. Oshawa is capable of running over 400 cars a day at full production levels. It'll probably take them a month or so to get there. All those assumptions taken as fact, Oshawa should complete all the pre-orders by the end of July. Just my opinion...
