They have gotten 270hp out of the 3900. I'm imagining that if this engine is used as the base engine, it will probably start out there.

The extra fuel required should be offset by DOD.

It isn't making peak power when it is going through fuel economy testing...

I agree much can and will change in the next two years, especially with the Camaro's motors.

Also I think the 3.9L VVT V6, will be the best likely choice for the v6 model, since it's close to the mustang's v6 in displacement. But the base camaro will like make about 270hp.

And I've said(for weeks) the 5.3L V8 would be the best likely choice for a base V8 Camaro. Although given that GM will replace the LS2(6.0L 400hp) with LS3(6.2L w/430hp & AFM). The 5.3L will either be stroked to 5.5L, or receive VVT with AFM, and be around 350hp

Unless there are various 'yet to be seen in public' motors that will be available by then.
