What's with this GMHTP cover?
Re: What's with this GMHTP cover?
Bob Lutz stated some time ago that they were going ahead with Camaro as if it was a approved project, and Rick Wagoner said GM would be braindead if it ignored public enthusiasm to build the car.
Can't get much closer to officially confirming production than that without taking a miniature blowtorch and scorching it into someone's forehead then taking one of those GM fender logos and supergluing it between their eyes.

Been talked about a bit here:
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=445286
Remember, with magazines there is sometimes a 3 month gap between when it is written and when it hits the newsstands. MUCH can change in 3 months (or even less)
Is it going to happen? In my opinion, probably. Is it official? Not at all. Take that to the bank. I will know when it is official, and I will make sure everyone knows when I am allowed to, but until then..."it ain't offical until it is OFFICIAL".
Uh...
Since you have a scanner, can you please send a full-page scan of page 14 to jason@camaroz28.com? I still haven't gotten my copy of it.

And my scanner is broken
Way to go Jason!! You got first place (well your opinion was placed first in the article) out of seven interviews and 8 pages, that ain't bad.
BTW, I thought that the red car shown in the pics had very dark tint (the non running LA car that was also at Autorama, so I suppose I'm one of a relatively small number that got up close with both
). There obviously is no/very little tint on the one on pg 14/cover. Was there a third (red w/interior) or did I miss something??

I forgot to mention it, but I think (didn't see the article myself) they suggest that the motors will be the 3.9L HV V6 at 240HP and the 5.3L V8 at 300HP. I think one of those isn't going to happen, and they may be leaving out a few.

Nice to see you in there Jason WTG
Re: What's with this GMHTP cover?
I did get the mag. GMHTP has confermed that the Camaro will start production in early 09, starting with the coup and later with the conv. 2 power plants configurations so far that have been herd, the 240hp LZ8 V-6 and the 300hp 5.3L LH6 V8. So far there has been no word yet of other V8 engines.
I personaly think there is no way that they wont have another V8 option. Lets say a SS with the LS2 400hp as the consept one.

From all I can gather , the 5.3 wont be around , at least in current form when the Camaro comes out . The LS family of passenger car engines is gonna look pretty different around the 08 timeframe . I dont think a currently available V8 engine will be in the Camaro's , therefore to early to call
The V6 may in fact be a 3.9 , but it too will evolve by 08 so to early to call again .
