Re: What about t-tops

I thought the targa on my Corvette would be the best thing since sliced bread, but to be honest, I prefer the t-tops on my Camaro. Granted the C5 & C6 targa is much less of a hassle compared to my C4 top, but it's still a bit of a hassle for me to hurl the roof off the car and get it into the hatch even after I spent the last 5 minutes unbolting it. The t-tops come off so quickly and easily, and the Camaro doesn't shake like a tunafish can over bumps like the Corvette does.

Re: What about t-tops

T-tops don't fit the style of this new Camaro coupe. (Nor does a sunroof IMO, for that matter.)

I can't wait to see a convertible version though.

Re: What about t-tops

Scott has mentioned on here that the percentage of Camaro buyers who selected t-tops is very high. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was about 40% or something close to that. Even the bean-counters at GM can't ignore numbers like that. They'll need to have some sort of targa or t-tops.

Re: What about t-tops

Sixer...try 80% of '02 Camaro buyers

Anyhoot, t-tops will not happen. I don't think a targa will, either...and no, this is not unfounded either. Those of you who know me know I don't say things unless I know something. Short of an 11th hr change by the engineering team, they will not happen Of course, if Mustang gets them, maybe GM's hand will be forced?

With that said, how about a panoramic moonroof?

Re: What about t-tops

There better be a t-top/targa option. I wanted the open air drive without the convertible when looking for my current Z and t-tops work perfectly. I'll wait as long as possible before getting a 5th gen for the option before I cave in and buy one.

Nobody wants t-tops more than me. If I'm in my car, the top is off...period. (I obviosuly don't drive it in the rain )

Ugh!?!?! Do we always have to wait until FORD does something to decide that WE should do it too?!?!? "I" know and "we" all know that T-tops were a part of the Camaro for so many years, but if the new Camaro DOESN'T get them UNTIL the Mustang DOES, then it's SURE gonna seem like COPYING to me .

If that ends up happening, I think it's gonna look awfully embarrassing . Just put the T-tops in to begin with. I don't care if they don't look as nice as they did on a 4th-gen, at least we'll get something FIRST for a change?

Re: What about t-tops

A lack of T-tops would be sacriledge.

That is the hands-down biggest thing I miss about my old '89 Formula.

Sure, the 305 TBI sucked.

Sure, it had electrical issues.

But I could take off those T-tops and go for a drive...just to DRIVE, man, and the world felt right again.

Re: What about t-tops

I was probably one of the 2 people that got a hardtop coupe in 2000 as opposed to t-tops. 80% of buyers select them maybe because that is all the dealers carried. I toured all the Pontiac dealers in the Houston area before finding a non t-top coupe that actually had power locks and windows.

Amen, Brother!!!

Some panoramic sunroof just won't cut it for me, and probably not for too may other t-top fans, either.

Scott: We need t-tops, please!

Okay..., I guess targa would work, too, but t-tops are part of the Camaro heritage...

Re: What about t-tops

I would most definitely miss the t-top option. Convertibles are too heavy and generally ruin the look of the car. Probably some incentive to hold onto the SS and maybe buy a ~2010 Z28.

Re: What about t-tops

I think body colored T-tops would be the way to go... i really dont care about the pieces being glass or not, as long as I can take them out.

Re: What about t-tops

I think T's would look fine, but only if they are body colored, which I know adds cost.

I agree a slab of black glass on the roof isn't going to look right on that car.
