Re: Wallpaper, showing all generations

It's cool to see you cats seeing the 3rd gen like I did. I thought I was the only one, lol.

Re: Wallpaper, showing all generations

Yup, there's a good amount of 3rd Gen in this car (not enough for me ) and there are no cues from the other two Gens. Guaranteed that no one in GM will say this though because all they do is talk about 1st Gens and how that's the best this and that like a bunch of morons. Nothing else gets a mention. They try and ignore the fact that the public recogizes Thirds as the car that defines this name and not a low tech, now high dollar car, (because of age) from 39 years ago. 1st's are the originals and I like them but lets be real. It gets me also that they always say the 5th is designed after the 69 when it looks more like a 68 than any other 1st Gen, in and out.

I will put my L98 IROC-Z up against any stock 1st Gen Z28 (or Z/28 ) they want and we'll see who's the best of what in an all-around performance test. (and which car is more "pretty" or better built) If they decided to get funny and throw an L78 SS in there, even if I didn't win in the straight line, there would be nothing else it would be "the best" at. Here's a person tired of the furthering of retro nonsense. Here's a person that's spent time around all Gens and is tired of the constant teaching that the cars were better 40 years ago. Faster in a straight line only doesn't equal this. There's alot more to it.

front is 69/3rd gen with a 2nd/4th gen point on it and fog lights in the 4th gen location. The rear is 67/68 that arent sectioned but seperated and rounded to almost a 70-73 tail lights like the C4 tail lights. The side belt line down is all 3rd gen with 69 shark gills. Especially the rake on the grille. Id like to see the grille blacked out except for the headlights and 69 wheel well lines that go straight back and fade into the doors. The line that runs the center of the cowl needs to be raised just a touch. 69 tail lights would be nice but the ones on there are growing on me. They just look corvette though.

I wish it had a few more 69 lines, feel lucky that we got the lines that we did. For a company that seems to hate retro you may get your way. I guess you missed the part where they said "the last thing we wanted was a carbon copy of the 69, Quite frankly I think our competitors looked to the past a little too much" and I love this one everyone keeps repeating "If you want an old car buy an old car" I think the 3rd gen rake and ques were an ingenious fix to the bumper problem and has really grown on me.

IMO, some of this is a reach. The 3rd Gen was more pointed than a 4th and the 5th is not quite as pointed as a 2nd. The taillights are 68 RS, just rounded off some but squared and angled up without being recessed. The lower grill and lights next to them look like they came off of the GTO, and the lights aren't in the far corners like a 4th. I'd angle that grill up like 3rds and like the early concepts of this car. I don't see much Corvette in this car at all really. You'll probably get the 69 fender lines in a few years I'd bet.

I don't put anything into their whole, "we didn't want retro" BS. They must not have seen the roofline, cowl hood, taillights, interior, or terrible grill yet. BTW, all they ever give credit to is the 1st Gen! Go figure.

IZ28 should really like that pic highlighting the 3rd gen profile , hehehe I saw the 3 gen influence from the begining . Actually I see alot of 3rd gen influence in the front clip too . Theoretically if the grill area were filled in with a body color panel , the deeply reccessed headlight would scream 3 gen in a single headlight 1st gen kinda way The shape of the windsheild and the front door glass also carry a strong 3rd gen shape in a 1st gen kinda way .

I really thought the 3rd gen was at the same angle as the 1st. 3rd may have slightly more angle at the tip of 3rd gen though. Id bet its at the same angle as my 98 though. I dont know what makes an RS 68 differ from a 68 regular. The only difference in 69 is its blacked out and the back up lights are moved off of them. The concept didnt seem to have backup lights anyway. The fog lights dont look GTO at all... GTO has wall eye foglamps where as 4th gen they are recessed like the concept. Obviously 69's were more to the center. That opening under the main open grille looks all 3rd gen to me too and I like it. From bottom rear in some of the low shots the car is all Vette.

Also the back half of the 1/4 panels are straight off the C6

They like heratige such as Strong heratige, retro that arent copies such as 4th gen Camaro, C6, SSR , HHR the list goes on but hate retro from what I can tell. Theyve distanced themselves so much that it would take public opinion to to change anything. and thats a good thing. This car was much more 69 till Wagoner changed it last minute. Mark Ruess said that the Retro popularity has not gone unnoticed in the HR mag interview over the summer. I really got the feeling they did retro very reluctantly.
Hope the guy who took these didnt mind me using them in the other thread.

The back is flat like a 1st Gen, but there's kinda something a little 3rd about it, probably that crease that makes the back look like a bumper. The quarters are a mix of 1st and 3rd Gen.

I agree!!! Can someone please photoshop a 97 SS over the LS1 please...and maybe an 88 Iroc over the 82? Love the concept by the way!!!
Thats not an 82, I can't remember the exact year I used, but it looks like an 85-88 Iroc with the RS grill. It was kind of hard to find pictures that were taken at similar angles, I had wanted to use an Iroc with the regular grill but I couldn't find one that suited. Finding the same colour was another problem, finally finding the right angle became more important because I could just change the colours. Thanks for all the comments, I'm glad it's being enjoyed.

I don't know what happened there, I was quoting blackblur1996z28 (just pushed the quote button on his message), who I think quoted you, I didn't even bother to check if it quoted right.

I think there is something wrong with quoting, look how it quoted me in your message, and how it quoted you in this one.

Can someone do a similar wallpaper for the Firebird? Someone posted a photoshop of a new, blue T/A based on the Camaro concept platform.
