Technical question that maybe only Scott or a disciple can answer..

How exactly does the "launch control" feature work on the Mn6 SS? Is this traction control like on the Corvette, that actually makes the car run slower in the 1/4, (I always run faster w/ the traction control off in my C6 ),or is it like a low RPM 2 step that would definetly drop the 60 foot w/ some sticky tires.

Please shed some light, I`m quite undecided at this point between manual or auto. I had planned to make this a weekend drag car. Of course I was hoping for a 36-3700lb car, w/ the LS3 w/ an auto so I could put a stall in it....Now I`ve got a very heavy car to get down the 1320 and to rub salt into the wound the auto( faster more consistent at the dragstrip w/ a stall) is rated at 22 less flywheel hp. So now I`m considering the manual. I really want to make an informed decision.

Thanks in advance!

Launch control usually differs from traction control in that it is programed to allow a small amount of slip and is not quite as intrusive. They basically adjust the logic for launching conditions versus normal traction control. Its basically a specific mode of the traction control. Maybe someone can confirm that this is the same as in the Camaro.

We never got to play with things like launch control. We don't know much about it at this point, either.

Don't let those horsepower numbers sway your decisions just yet, I would wait until some more accurate info is presented on power vs. expected performance times.

Launch Control will most likely be similar to what is found in the new Cobalt SS Turbo as well as ZR1. It will hold you at a certain RPM till you drop the clutch and you go speeding off.
