My dealer refuses to sell a car for more than MSRP. This'll get interesting.

It must be pretty easy to get a job as a car salesman because i've encountered some people that just don't know anything about their product.

There will be price gouging on the Camaro just like any other high demand vehicle simply becasue GM will not be able to give every dealer 10 of them right off the bat... they will have to trickle into dealers showrooms, which means first come first serve... believe it or not, there are people who will be willing to pay a few thousand over sticker for them.
The quote above describes almost to the letter, the plan GM dealers in my area have for the new Camaro sales launch. They must be taking lessons from the Ford / Shelby camp.

Why, in 1970 did they become a niche car?? Ahahaha...stupid car salesman.
there is a point where you do a 180* and leave.

I know a lot of people that are conviced that Camaro will cost over 40k. When I ask them why they would price it the same as a Corvette, it looks like the hampster inside just took a header into the wheel.

This is precisely the reason why I decided, after three new F-bodies since 1985, to go to another product.

I have so many people comment that it'll probably start around $40,000. Or just that it's going to be very espensive in general.

Even my own father commented that it will probably be pretty expensive. I asked him why he woud think that since the Mustang isn't ridiculously overpriced and the Camaro has always been in Mustang 'territory' as far as price goes.

He wasn't sure how to answer and said the the Camaro LOOKS expensive.

I suppose that's a good reason for people to think it'll cost so much. LOL

I think an expensive looking car is exactly what GM needs here. Tons people comment on my parents Soltice thinking it's very expensive. I hope they can do the same thing with the Camaro, but also make sure they advertise it's true price.

Same exact impression i get when I tell people the Mustang comparison.

Wow. You had two periods in that entire post. Ever heard of punctuation? Makes things alot easier to read, and keeps people from saying "**** this" and moving on. Just a little tip.

I'm POSITIVE it will sell for more than MSRP, atleast for a while. When the S2000 first came out, some went for DOUBLE. The current GT500 should be a good indicator as well (still going for $25k over MSRP). ****, the Honda Odyssey (A MINIVAN!!) was SELLING for $5k over msrp for most of its first year. Same with the Ridgeline (A V6 TRUCK!).

Like I said before. My Chevy-Cadillac delear doesn't markup any vehicle over MSRP. He has a Z06 and XLR-V in his showroom, both of which are priced at MSRP.

Shop around for a dealer that wants your continued business, and not to just make that one time sale.

i work at a dealership as well and we have zero mark up on the cars as well because we aren't allowed to, we're owned by UAG. . . BUT, on cars that have zero problems selling, we add either a "Security Package" or "Package A" which both go AND SELL for $2,995 above msrp. "Package A" includes a chrome exhaust tip, splash guards and wheel locks. The "Security Package" includes wheel locks. LOL i know its retarded, I hate it as well, but it is very VERY common in the industry.

And that is why I tell the salesman "We're not taking the X package. Parts cost you $50 and you are charging me $2000. Take it off."

He comes back to me with "But but but all of our cars come with them".

So I tell him fine, take it off or sell it to me for $50. They have sold it to me for $50. The one time they didn't I walked and bought the exact car with the exact "package" at another dealer for far less. It helps when you find a dealer that sells parts on line at cost and know the true cost of those add-ons.
