Short Blurb in Rides Magazine
Short Blurb in Rides Magazine
So I was flipping thru a maxed out inmates copy of Rides magazine (March/April 2006 issue) and came across a short blurb about the Camaro Concept.
Since the inmate is no longer housed in my prison it's going to get shredded so I snagged it so I could post what it said here. Sorry, my scanner isn't hooked up at the moment or I'd just scan it in.
Anyway here's what it says-
FAST FACTS:
VETTE BET
The odds favor Chevy's bulletproof 6.0l LS2 V8 found in the C6 Vette.
TABULA RASA
Rumors say Chevy may go back to the drawing board on this design.
Chevrolet Camaro Concept
As the RIDES official showstopper of the Detroit Auto Show, the Chevrolet Camaro proves American car design is alive and well. Try and stare down the hard line Camaro grille and you'll see nothing Japanese or Eurospec about it, props! Also note the subtlety in early Camaro design nods. This isn't just another round-edged carbon copy from a bygone era. But word has it that we will see another redesign before the production model.
So, how trustworthy is their info regarding the 'redesign'? I'd have thought someone would have mentioned this before if it were the case.
I'm going to be VERY disappointed if the Camaro doesn't come out looking (nearly) identical to the Concept...
I may end up in a Chrysler 300 if that's the case.

Re: Short Blurb in Rides Magazine
The new GM crew isnt dumb, they arent changing that car. Its annoying to read clueless, out of date or out to lunch magazines. Its scary to know that they are THE automotive info source for so many.
Re: Short Blurb in Rides Magazine
Can't believe this magazine would be given any sort of validation whatsoever. For crying out loud it's an "automotive lifestyles" magazine that talks about Paul Wall's grills and how well they match his Caddie's. Get real. For those that are in undying panic over this crock of **** know this, if the design was going to be changed any before the production car..... you'd know by now.
Re: Short Blurb in Rides Magazine
We already know the Camaro will clinic no more and is going to look no different than what we saw debut at NAIAS minus the obvious differences. Only thing changing is the interior basically. Let it be modern...

In one sentence they seemed to be praising it, then in the next saying it could be redesigned. Didn't make a lot of sense imo.
Re: Short Blurb in Rides Magazine
Look for only minor changes of the mirrors, door handles and wheels size. The interior is due for some larger changes.
Scott has also pointed out the engines in the Edmunds note was wrong and that listed a 6.0. Could we be seeing the new 6.2?
Though I have heard the grill may get some tweeking??? We will find out in time

No offense, but if you're looking to Rides magazine for your future vehicle information....well....as they would say, you'd get no "props" from anyone here....

No, it's not a magazine I read on a regular basis. As I mentioned, it came in for an inmate that was no longer housed in my Facility. I was bored, so decided to page thru it because I do like what they do to the Chrysler 300's. I just came across the small article regarding the Camaro Concept.
Though if I did read it regularly, I wouldn't be afraid to admit it... I do tend to stray pretty far from what most would call 'the norm' in my life. Being different isn't something that bothers me. lol
