Rumor: 2012 Camaro Z28 to debut at Chicago Auto Show

Personally I am sick of these rumors...
I got this email at 9am this morning and was asked to post it.

Obviously i didnt, however I saw some other sites have.
There is no official statement from GM and EGM says they received their lintel from GM finance.

http://www.egmcartech.com/2011/01/25...ago-auto-show/

"egmCarTech now has confirmation from its sources at General Motors that the Camaro Z28 will make its public debut at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show on February 9. That means the debut of the Camaro Z28 will take place the same month that the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible goes on sale."

So what does everyone think?!

Might be true, has a chance to be true, but isn't "confirmed" until Chevrolet confirms it, or it shows up on the show floor.

Hope it is true, but it ain't official until it is official.

Personally, I think if GM was to debut such a car called a Z28, it would have been done in Detroit. If there is such a car called a Z28 in existence, they should roll it out in Oshawa in June with all the Camaro enthusiasts there.

I tend to agree. What is so special about Chicago? The only logical argument for why Chicago, and why it wasn't debuted in Detroit, is because it wasn't ready. But if that were the case, we would have been hearing rumors in December. I suspect there will be something unveiled, but it won't be the Z28.

The 1998 Camaro was introduced at the 1997 Chicago auto show. Camaro and Chicago have a history.

I would have thought the same... but i heard that the Chicago show is actually a large show?

another site posted this 1st..but i had the info before them. i got this email from the owner of the website claiming its debut at 9am he wanted me to post it.. i wasnt going to..

I guess i just gave in through curiosity, could it be true? i wish i knew because i would like to attend the show..

This is not confirmed by GM.. I just spoke with him about his source and he said it was from a finance executive @ GM that he met during the NAIAS.

It has to be just more rumors, does a financial exec have the authority to give that information? I figure if anyone who knows about its existence would lose more than their job if something like that were to be traced back.

As much as I would love to see a Z28, I like that Camaro is #1 in the pony car market, and I don't want that to change. They have to release it if it is there at the perfect time. When that is I am not really sure, but it can't be in Chicago...That has to be a Detroit thing.

A good reason not to show it at Detroit is that not enough people still live there to make it a premier show on the North American circuit. Sad, tongue in cheek joke, and truthful all at the same time. I am one to talk. St. Louis never gets anything good, because our show is the same weekend as the Chicago show. At least we don't have to watch the Cubs 162 games per year.
