Ordering Timing and Production Order - Fbodfather?

Scenario:

There are 2 dealers, each with 20 cars allocated. The first order at dealer A is placed on Oct. 12th, and the first order at dealer B is placed say Nov 15th. All things considered, would the car at dealer A be produced before the car for dealer B? Or does the order in which the orders are received by GM have nothing to do with it - i.e. its based strictly on allocation?

Are the orders identical? If so, and assuming both dealers have allocations, GENERALLY the order placed first will get preferenced first. But if the orders are different, and the first order has something in it that is on constraint, then it would be held until either the constraint is lifted or the dealer changes the order to eliminate the constrained item. If the first car is hung up in constraint, then the 2nd order could pass it. Thats the way it works in Corvetteland anyway.

Yeah, there's so many things that could go into it. They may not be doing any black cars the first week or something.

Is all this allocation stuff just for the initial run of cars or is it the allocation for the entire model year?

The allocation is through the 3rd quarter. Once they have built/sold those cars they will see how its going and either set up another allocation, or just go to a normal build schedule. They discussed it in this weeks podcast.
