offbeat, challenger review

I was reading the review on edmunds inside lane about the challenger review, sizing the competition and on the speed read, i found a very funny comment:

What Needs Work:
Too big; too heavy; too many people ask you if it's the new Camaro.

I think that it is funny how people know that there is a new camaro coming out but not a challenger. Challenger, what is that?!

Yeah, that's almost as funny as the no less then 5 people at work that said what a nice mustang i had as my background while i was starting up a powerpoint presentation in conference rooms. The mustang(s) in question were the silver concept and later the orange convertible.

There were people on this very site who mistook the Challenger for Camaro prototypes.

The reason isn't a lack of knowledge of the Challenger. The reason is that both cars use a 3 box, blunt front nose design that simply no other cars on the road use today.

The perils of using a (based in) retro design when the other two players in the market are doing the same.

Keep in mind most people do not study these cars. They have not seen them in person and understang their true size and styling.

Also keep in mind I have had many people ask if my 04 GTP is a GTO. I guess they missed the 2 extra doors?

Keep in mind to most people cars are appliances and styling is second to how much the payment is and reliability. How else would Honda sell such plain styling. There once was a time styling counted and we can only hope it returns with the new styling GM is bringing to the table.
