NEWS: Chevy Camaro Convertible Concept rolls into Detroit early
My critique/opinion:
* those wheels look a lot cooler than the coupe concept's
* I love the stripes, they are perfect.
* I still don't like the spoiler completely, I would want a larger one that doesn't stick straight up. I want it more like a bigger 3rd gen ducktail and a more sloped angle. I think right now, the front end feels REALLY heavy, and a slightly larger spoiler helps (thought not much) to balance out the 'weight' the front end appears to have. (see pic) Although I'm not going to waste my tip photoshopping it, if the front wheels were an additional inch smaller than the rear ones, the balance may appear more equal. Right now, the concept appears front wheel drive, because the front end appears so massive. I've seen the coupe in person, and in person, on a platform, it doesn't appear this way, but I don't know about when it is on the ground.
* I'm starting to heavily dislike the fake exhaust tips and that entire fascia back there. I really hope they don't make it to production like that. The shape or something is starting to bother me, I think the worst part is the gap (see correction in photoshopped pic I am posting). The thought of having chromed plastic rings hiding my real tips bothers me. Looks like crap on this new concept. The diffuser needs to be painted flat black or something, because it shouldn't ever appear gray in a pic.
* The interior color scheme is PERFECT. That is exactly what I want in my new Camaro! I hope "exterior paint matching leather stitching" is an option because I would LOVE to have bright blue stitching on my black leather in my '69 Le Mans Blue (sorta like Nassau Blue) Camaro
* The gauges have won me over, I love them with that blue ring
Overall, great! But see my mods in the flash animation below.
4 frames:
1- no changes
2- changes to rear fascia
3- larger spoiler
4- Le Mans blue
Large file, and the frames change every 5 seconds, so be patient.

I don't car about the spoiler either way, I don't think that can ever make me hate or like it so that doesn't bother me. It looks a little weird in your pic, almost like the whole rear is shaped like some sort of cone? I think maybe it's just the way they designed it that makes it slightly weird when you extend it - either that or there's just no good way to liquify/whatever you used to do that.
I agree - there is something about the rear and seeing all the grey/black etc I dislike (a little) as well. IDK if dropping the rear down is the solution...or what a solution may be. Just don't want it to be so easy to see plastic underbody-like areas.

Yes, the spoiler isn't perfect. You cannot easily project things into 3D in Photoshop (for that matter, doing what I did isn't the easiest thing in the world to do either). I tried bringing it out towards the viewer a bit, but it ended up making the rest of it harder to fit, so I ditched that plan and compromised.
No, it's fine! I wasn't offended. I just wanted to explain why I didn't make it look better.
You'll find that my extended spoiler in this picture of the front end has the same problem. http://members.aol.com/speedbbb/cama...lemansblue.jpg
It's not something I know how to do much better unfortunately

Did you like the coupe concept's spoiler better then? I think it had a little more length to it and wasn't angle up as sharp.
EDIT: maybe not...
EDIT: added some glass and fixed the panels as requested
EDIT 2: NEW top in first pic, let me know if I'm heading in the right direction......something is really weird with the lines of the 'vert I can't figure out....this is my first car chop project so I need help -- I'll get it eventually...

Brangeta- You wouldnt need to worry about the exhaust tips . The platic plated rings would never make it to production . The plastic plating over time wouldnt hold up to the heat from the exhaust . That entire diffuser area will have to be worked over for a production car . So count on real exhaust tips and visible backup lights incorporated .

I don't think it will change a whole lot though. They can make a similar set up work, maybe something like the GTO.

A lot of people seem to like the rims on this one, but I dont know. That might be something that I would have to see in person. May have to see a size that is more realistic to what they will use. I also find it odd that the rumors are that the production rims wont be that big, but yet they came up with a whole new design of large rims for another concept.
I really like the exhaust on the newer GTOs, so I hope it will look like that. Hopefully GM will allow dual exhaust to be a standard on the V6 Camaros as well; it's always a shame to see a V6 4th gen Camaro with that little brown straw they call an exhaust pipe.
Yeah, I really want to see some real pics of it with the top up. 'Cause those pics above look horrible to me (not the work done with them, but the look of the car with the top up). The Camaro has much more roof to it than previous models it seems. And that longer roof makes the convertable top look like it came from a 4door sedan imo.
I remember you couldn't see mine on my V6, so when someone noticed it did have dual exhaust they were always surprised.
