New pix of Camaro conducting actual track testing..
when an independent company dynos a production model and puts out 480+awhp then well talk untill then, its nissan bumping the boost for bragging rights
and nissan has already had the hand forced and said they used r compund racing tires..thta alone is worth 10+ seconds on a 13 mile corusee
I've heard it stated the posted times weren't w/ shaved slicks, and that the running start lap time is normal and indeed the Z06's time was also w/ a running start. Is there definitive word either way?
Road and Track also ran a standard GTR around a test track in their comparo and beat the Z06 and 911 Turbo by like 5 seconds. Unless Nissan is giving out ringers to everyone (quite possible) I'm thinking the Z06 is in major trouble at least around a track. I think owners of the GTR will be surprised when they get walked hardcore in most regular street/straightline racing by the Z06 though, heh. The trap speeds just prove the Z06 will walk on the GTR from rolling starts or when the GTR owner doesn't beat on the thing off the line.
W/ the numbers posted by the V-Spec GTR (admittedly not from an unbiased source though) I think the ZR1 may be in real trouble too. Especially w/ the lackluster initial numbers from the ZR1 (admittedly hand timed and in no way official or necessarily even max effort..) posted in another thread here. I don't see how you can say the idea of the V-Spec GTR competing w/ the ZR1 is ludicrous. We don't know the power the V-Spec will be putting out (550+ seems safe, it may end up being very near the ZR1s numbers for all we know), and it'll have the same AWD system and be lighter than the standard one.

Yeah, the shaved slick thing was supposedly a misprint, although the stock tires on the GT-R maybe be more comparable to a street legal racing tire anyway, as opposed to the runflats on the Z06. If the VSpec really runs 7:25s at the Ring then the ZR1 probably is outgunned there too, but we will have to wait and see.

First off, I'm not a fan of the GTR, I don't care for it at all and was assuming the Z06 would have worked it *** over based on simple physics, but I guess the advanced AWD and potential underrating makes up for alot.

i dont think the ZR1 will have any trouble the Vspec..the ZR1 weighs 3350 the GTR-V will weigh atleast 3600 with less power and less tire..i dont see how it could hang with it...
the Z06 weighs 3150 the GTR weighs 3800..the Z has more power and wider tires..how could it even hang with it..
wait till jan magnuson drives the ZR1 all out at the ring..and the LS9 has made over 700 on a stand...my uncle mike matera build ls7's and is working with the LS9...he said they upped the boost untill it broke..something like 20 pounds and it spun a rod bearing at 1000+ ponies..even though i am biased, i really dont think theres MUCH to worry about..itll make the Z06 sweat a little but hey FINALLY a little competition..
i cant find the link, but jan said himself that it was a standing start..and the GTR lap time started at the entrance to the F1 track rather then 180meters before at the starting line..
Is the rear hitch going to be an option as well?! Ha
No, really
What's the hitch for? Have they been testing the towing capacity with this car?? Or has it just been a way to transport the car in some way??

Test mules are sometimes required to tow trailers holding some extra equipment. Although there have been no pictures of Camaro doing it. It's not uncommon for test cars to be called tow duty.
You know, they looked bigger to me too. So I had to ask someone about it. CONFIRMED: the rears are NOT bigger.
Even if they were the same size or bigger, the rear rotors appear disproportionately large because of the drum in disk setup it appears to have for the parking brake, just like on the 4th gens.
