Just a note: Lifting tires is not a good thing. If you do that, then you only have 3 tires for lateral grip.

For comparison's sake, Autoblog has posted images of both the Camaro mule and GTR Spec-V taken from the same turn in almost the same spot, at multiple stages of the turn. See:

Interesting. The GTR appears to be on a slightly tighter line entering and midway through the turn, but on exiting they're quite close. (Line-up the "d" on the asphalt with the cars' central axis, its behind the GTR but in front of the Camaro.)

Both cars seem to be taking that particular corner with plenty of composure.

Hopefully somebody gets some video. It'll be nice to know just how quickly each car was going at the time.

That's logical, considering that the Camaro is RWD and requires a slightly different line for maximum speed through the turn.

Can anyone make out the dimensions of the Camaro off of the comparisons. I know the GT-R is kind of big but the driver's head in the Camaro looked like a lollipop in that thing, either he has a huge noggin or the Camaro is smaller than I thought.

I'd be interested to see something along those lines as well.

He's wearing a helmet.

In the final picture of the Camaro, the rear is squatting down big time and there's a huge gap between the front wheel and the wheelwell. It must be accelerating pretty quickly exiting that turn.

Great pics. The GTR and Camaro seem to be negotiationg that turn very well. Little different driving lines into and out of the corner but both look right on.

I would think the "Ring" tested GTR is hustling through a bit quicker but I'd love to see the times of both. I bet the GTR would be quicker but it would nice to see a Z/28 whem completed give it a real run.

Those brakes on the GTR look almost like carbon. Race wheels and I'm sure track tires would help.

Seeing as the regular GTR whoops the Z06 pretty handily, I don't see how the Camaro has any shot. Especially against the "V-Spec" GTR that I believe is pictured here, the ZR1 probably won't even be able to compete much w/ that beast...

Other than location on the track, there is no comparison that can be made in those shots. We have absolutely no idea how fast each car is moving at those points.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. I think the ZR1 will be more than a match for it.

The GT-R had a 7:38 lap at the ring last fall and the Z06 turned a 7:42 so I would not go to say whooped but edged.

The new GT-RV is doing 7:25.

I would expect the ZR-1 will be a player being very competitive as while it may not have the AWD for in the cornners it will have more power for the long straights bigger brakes and less weight. Even if it does not top 7:25 it will be very close.

The Camaro we should I hope to see a around 8:00 in SS form and high 7min in Z/28 trim. That would be a very repsectable lap.

With the Cobalt SS At 8:22 we should expect a low min lap.

Who knows they may suprise up with a 7:59.

Just to note any lap under 9 min is very impressive no matter what vehicle. Noting the HHR Tubo was at 8:40's.

Note a BMW M3 did 8:05 at 420 HP and about 3600 pounds if I converted it correctly and a standard 405 HP C6 did 7:59 at 3300 pounds.

A lap time may give us an idea of weight and power.
