When those cars you see with reasonable belt lines are redesigned, they will have higher belt lines.

My Mom has a 2007 Lucerne and it has by far a higher belt line than her previous car, a 1998 LeSabre, the car it replaces.

To reach stricter side impact 5 star ratings, you need much more of the area made out of steel than glass.

Well that's too bad. I guess that's progress

That said, as long as there is a reasonable amount of glass area, I'm okay with a high belt line. I've seen the Lucerne, and I consider that reasonable. The G8 and G35 have relatively high belt lines, and they both have a decent amount of glass area. My 2002 Camaro has a low belt line, and reasonable glass area.

The new Malibu is on the edge of acceptable to my tastes.

GM wins either way with me. If I don't get a new Camaro (seems unlikely based on the pics), I'll get a new G8. But I'm still a little disappointed....

Very true. This was one of my main problems with the Solstice. I just did not feel comfortable in it. I loved the placement of the shifter but the left side just did not feel right at all. Couldn't rest the arm up on the window area or lower.

Not a fan of high window sills. My only complaint about the Stang and 300C.

That side window is tiny. The belt line is at the top of the guy's shoulder. There's no way you could rest your elbow comfortably on the window sill. I really don't like that style (it's probably the most significant reason that I have not bought a 300C or Charger R/T). I like to see out of my car.

Do others of you like tiny side window like that?
I like the look of the high beltline. And I've been in both the Charger and 300 and never noticed a problem with seeing out.

The ONLY thing that may annoy me is it not being comfortably to rest my arm on the windowsill when it's open. As long as the arm rest inside the car isn't too low (or too high) as they often are (imo) I'll deal with it though.

Don't feel alone. I agree completely. White is just so much cleaner looking than black (even when it's dirty).

As for the tiny window...meh? It's definitely an improvement over the 4th gen car's lack of a quarter window...I think I'll be quite happy with it.
I never had a problem resting my arm comfortably when I had my '02 Camaro...

Yeah, it's a rear that REQUIRES a spoiler. Otherwise it just looks flat and odd.
