Wow....I bet not too many vette owners drive their cars in bad winter weather. Even if your husband is a great driver, the majority of drivers out there are not all that great....particularly in bad weather conditions. It will be interesting to see if he has a change of heart sometime during the winter.

We live on the west coast, & we dont get much snow & Ice here, but when we do I dont think he will drive the vette.

I've got a '97 Z28 that I use as a daily driver that just passed 172,000. I do about 20 miles one way each day. Tires are probably the biggest maintenance expense, but a decent set of Z rated will get you about 35,000 miles (The stock GS-C's got me 18,000).

The car has always had bizarre repair issues for me though.
I bought the car off the dealer as a demo with 6000 miles on it. Before the first 30,000 miles I had to replace all the O2 sensors (some twice) and the steering column (under warranty fortunately). The water pump leaked around 70,000 and killed the opti which I had replaced at the dealer and got the warranty for. Around 100,000 developed an oil leak and had the gaskets replaced. I also had some bizarro turn signal issue where I can't get the front turn signal lights to always flash properly even after replacing the socket and flasher so that's still with me. From that point forward I had several fuel injectors die, the ignition control module died, the AC died, several fuel injectors, rear defogger switch and brake light socket, the water pump leaked again at 150,000 (and the opti and water pump were replaced FREE under warranty, up yours GM...) and just after that I had the gaskets replaced on the engine again along with the passenger side catalytic converter.

Now I've got a problem with the internal power module (making the power windows and radio shut off randomly while driving), I get a gas fume smell coming from the rear after driving for awhile (I'm thinking the evac cannister has gone bad), the car's reporting that the driver side catalytic converter is going bad and I seem to be slowly losing oil somewhere (about 1/4 quart a month) but it's not on the driveway and it's not showing up in the exhaust.
Oh and my gas mileage has dropped in the last few months from 20mpg to about 18mpg.
I'd like to get it to 200,000 miles just to say I did but not if I have to throw a few thousand more into it...
