New CAFE standards

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this, so I will. What will the new cafe standards mean for GM? Are all the new upcoming performance cars stillborn?

On a positive note, with the increase in ethanol production, will it be possible to have a performance car designed for ethanol's higher octane rating?

Remember...CAFE is for the manufacturer as in Chevy as a whole.. not individual cars. No problem with performance cars because others cars will bring the average up so there can be Camaros and Corvettes as long as we have Eveos, Cobalts and the upcoming VOLT.

Because it is not 2010 Camaro related, the talk about this has been in the Automotive News and Future Vehicles Discussion forum.

Some good points in there, especially in this thread. See post 31 and 41 to set yourself at ease.
