Re: Nascar + Camaro
i think this is the reason i am NOT a fan of nascar. not only is it boring, but they put a FWD 4 door sedan as the shell on the car that is a v8, rwd, gutted, chopped race car!?!?! it shows nothiong about what the car truely is. this is not what nascar was or was meant to be. but unfortunately...its what it has turned into.

Re: Nascar + Camaro
There was an article about Impala production for MY 2014 moving to Detroit. Id imagine that means they will continue to market the Impala name in the Sprint Cut series. I'm a little surprised that they haven't tried the Camaro in the Nationwide series beside the Challenger and Mustang but I believe the reason was quoted somewhere on this very site and it boiled down to not being able to get a reasonable looking nose piece approved by NASCAR. Plus the Impala nose goes through the air a lot better than a Camaro would..

Re: Nascar + Camaro
the shells they put on these cars really have nothing in common with the production car other than the stickers that make it LOOK like the production car. no where near the same size or shape of a production version. making a suitable nose(if thats the reason why) shouldnt be anything difficult to a professional team.
Re: Nascar + Camaro
The racing teams don't make the nose shape, the automakers do. Jim Campell and Jimmie Johnson talk about the 2013 NASCAR Chevy entry
The automakers pretty much submit a nose to NASCAR for approval and work from there.
Chevrolet sponsors NASCAR for the same reason they sponsors fishermen. Does Chevy make fish? No... Do they sell rod & reels? No.. Do they fish out of a Camaro? No.. Does Chevrolet sell boats? No... But it does put their name out there for people to see..

Re: Nascar + Camaro
you really lost me here......
Re: Nascar + Camaro
The complaint that is made here and everywhere is this...
The cars dont look like the production cars... THEREFORE Chevy shouldn't put money into NASCAR or put a model designation on a race car body.

Yes.

I believe something was posted a while ago about the new Malibu being the "face" of Chevrolet in NASCAR starting in 2013.
