My 5th Gen Trans Am

I started with a Formula style hood, but everyone wanted the bird and shaker

You can see that I made the hood buldge is wider.. I think it helps

Beautiful car. Hopefully some company decides to make a conversion kit... b/c that is t3h hawtness!

Eh... what am I saying... I just can't wait until I get a chance to buy a new v8 F-Body without the dealer mark-up (sucks I might have to wait an extra year, but at least I'll be able to figure out EXACTLY what package I want since I'll have a year to see 'em on the lots!)

Re: My 5th Gen Trans Am

I see a Formula more than a GTO..
I've owned both a 78 Formula (photo below is not mine) and a 69 GTO
I was going for the formula look with that hood

Formula Firebird

Mine

Re: My 5th Gen Trans Am

that pic with the shaker is cool.I had a '77 T/A back in 1980 when I was 19.If pontiac said that car wold be out in 2 years I would go down and cancel my Shelby tomorrow. Are you listening pontiac?????I never considered buying a GTO,it just never appealed to me.nice photochop.

Pontiac front end, coupe-like body.

That's a GTO boys.

The Firebird people want a continuation of the morphin-Corvette-look 4th gen and generally hate the 3 box styling of the GTO.
The GTO people want a 3 box styled car that's more agressive.

In a cheap move grafting a 70s Pontiac nose to a Camaro, you created a blantant GTO.

A nice looking GTO.

Accept it.

Re: My 5th Gen Trans Am

I gotta tell you -- that's a GREAT looking car! You did an exceptional job!

(altho Guy, this is one where we don't agree-- I see Firebird, not GTO)

To be a GTO, it has to be somewhat larger and have a larger back seat -- where 4 can sit comfortably for hours. (not saying the Camaro won't have a functional back seat -- but Camaro/Firebird owners, on par, prefer style over utility.

The top image looks great imo. Nice job.

But something about the 2nd/bottom image doesn't look as good to me.

Re: My 5th Gen Trans Am

guy, usually im with you 100%,but GTO has a modern pontiac nose which does nothing for many(saturn vue vs. solstice also), and this photochop goes more '77-'78 retro. Those were the heydays for the firebird.lotta emotional pull there for many of us.

"The Firebird people want a continuation of the morphin-Corvette-look 4th gen and generally hate the 3 box styling of the GTO."- judging by how well many 5th gen camaro to firebird photoshops have been recieved,I don't think a vette clone is what is desired.

P.S. hey Fbodfather, please make those camaro side mirrors BIGGER.Otherwise, beautiful car.
