Manual or Automatic?

Ok so I know the initial answer is Manual. But, here's why I ask. I'm debating between a Manual which is obviously more fun to drive but I'm not planning on doing too much racing if any. I mean I just want the ability to crush the dreams of the little ricers around the are that get a Civic put about 5k into a body kit and CAI and then think they ARE The Fast and the Furious!! Plus I would really like to have a Remote Start system. I mean if that's an option which I would imagine. I don't know what do yall think?

I plan on getting a manual. I miss having one, if it's faster or not, it FEELS faster. And I can't wait to embarass those same ricers. Only instead of "Fast and Furious", I call them "Slow and Pissed Off".

I don't know, yet. Manual is the macho/traditional muscle car thing...but I don't buy into that. So - whatever I feel like on the day of purchase is what I'll get.

(GM's A6's are nothing to snort at, either.....)

I'll take a manual...IMO...more fun to drive. The only way I'd want an auto is if I planned on doing a lot of drag racing, which I'm not, because the closest track is almost 2 hrs away.

Also, I'm not interested in a paddle-shift-auto...I had a BMW M3/SMG for a while...it was an awesome car, but after a few weeks, I wished it was a manual.

+1 For the paddle shift. No torque converter or clutch in an M3 - it is actually a manual transmission even though you shift it with the paddles.

It did have a fully auto mode, so I consider it an auto. I found myself using the shifter most of the time, not the paddles (habit I guess). I don't like the way it took off from a standing stop or even a slow roll. The "hidden" trans-brake was a cool thing though.

Manual

Oh, BTW.... in reguards to your comment about remote start, here is a VERY interesting spy picture from one of the pre-production models:

http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/09C...py1/1000600007

Looking closely, that appears to be the new keyfob with remote control built in, and the button with an arrow going around in a circle is GM's factory installed remote start (I know because my Mom's Lucerne has it).

Look what the keyfob is laying on - a manual transmission gearshift boot.

VERY interesting!

Already confirmed, 6 speed auto on all Camaro models, V6 and V8......

But why haven't you learned to drive stick yet? Has your husband ever offered to teach you?

I know how to drive a stick but I am not comfortable driving one. anyways if the car is going to be my daily driver or even hit the track I rather have a auto. lol. He can drive the sticks if he wants.

GM does not offer an SMG type transmission like the M3 in *ANY* models, including top dog corvettes and cadillacs. That means, there is no way camaro will have it either. GM's paddle shift cars are all slush boxes.

btw, having driven an M3 with a SMG, i'd have to say i'd just as soon have a slushbox. The SMG is a joke as a docile daily driver type trans, as POWERFREAK said, it's horrible from a stop or slow roll, and also lacks smoothness even in basic shifting, it feels like a novice manual driver is in control of the clutch.
