Instead of charging a government mandated $1300 gas guzzler tax for crummy fuel mileage, how about a 6 speed auto for $1295 instead? Thats where it is priced for the Corvette. The extra gears should give the car(s) better fuel economy that would take it out of the gas guzzler tax range. I am a big fan of automatics and it would be rediculous to have a gas guzzler tax when you have a fine A6 trans sitting in your parts bin. I know you didnt have time to engineer it into the 04-06 GTOs, but since the new GTO is getting a fresh sheet of paper, it is the right thing to do.
