GM really should put out a better "spy shot"
Like it or not, that bland white camo-less photo was the first unofficial public unveiling of the Camaro. Without any of that zebra camo, the general public now thinks they've seen the production Camaro, minus whatever those black bras cover.
And it's a HORRIBLE picture, and it's EVERYWHERE now. This bland picture as the Camaro's first unveiling is very bad publicity.
If I were GM, I'd post up another picture but of a different colored car in better light, and post it up on a forum as a spy-shot. Of course, GM would have to take care that it looks as though an anonymous user posted the photo as to not encourage people from taking crappy spy-shots to force GM into future premature unveilings.
But the publicity from this awful, bland picture of a tall, stubby, flat-sided looking Camaro needs to be undone.

Let me get this straight..... You're complaining about a frigging spy picture that gives everyone the 1st look at the production Camaro simply because you feel the picture is "HORRIBLE"???!!
Perhaps we should form a group that ensures no spy pictures of the car are posted at all untill it clears your standards that ensure any 'spy" pictures of the Camaro look every bit as good as the car that was dressed up and polished in the movie 'Transformers'.
It's a SPY PICTURE for crissakes! GM disguised the car as every single automaker that runs a prototype vehicle on public streets has done since the begining of automotive time! A person on the streets happened to come across it who had a camera handy and snapped the picture. Because it's a high intrest car, the guy sold the pictures and now it's is everyplace. This has been done since the dawn of spy shots.
This is the 1st time in history I (and probally anyone else) have ever ever heard anyone complain about "the quality of the picture" or "bad publicity" based on the pictures or camoflage. This is also one of the only times I've ever heard anyone actually confuse a camoflaged engineering prototype with a publicity car whose purpose is to generate intrest.
I haven't come up with silliest thread subject of 2007 yet, but this one is a leading contender.

I think the idea is that people think GM leaked the un-camo'd picture and that's why they feel a better one would have done better. As we should all know by now this picture was not leaked by GM but probably by someone inside and if found would be fired and/or prosecuted to full extent of law.

Why? They probably have in their contract that they are sworn to secrecy and to not take photos. Which means they get paid not to take pictures. Which means it was breech of contract and they should be terminated. Seems open and shut to me.
It's a photo taken by someone with a camera phone. If you want a quick photo that gets the basics, use your phone cam. This isn't a professionally done photo in a proper setting with lights.
GM doesn't need to do anything in the sense of sending out a spy photo of their own. As someone said there is always going to be lovers and haters.
The only thing they should do is beef up security.

As a past 69 Camaro owner and a huge GM fan, I think this thread is not going in the direction the author intended, I have to agree the photo is not great, thefore anyone new browsing the camaro forums etc sees said picture and MAY be dissuaded from the purchase....although most long time followers of these threads and the camaro know that it's just a bad shot but the newbie's may not, with that said, If I was a GM executive I would be in damage control mode in an attempt to bring a better photo of the beast that we have all come to love and admire, Just to keep the newcomers comming around. Do they have to, of course not, it just seems to be the smart thing to do. Its never to early to change people's perceptions of the car

Just let it rest as you don't get a second chance at the important first impressions.
The car should not be seen till it is ready and we have proof right here and on other web sites.
We have folks already complaining about things that will be non issues when the car arrives because it is not complete and still has a lot of work still needing to be done.
The damage a early picture like this good or bad is it leave a poor first impression of the final product. The fact is there is no final products to photo yet as things are still getting done and changes still to be made.
Poor impressions can be over come but till then we have less than informed people with keyboards going off on how there is no vents in the quarter [They are there just painted over] and other issues that will be addressed in the final version of the car.
Lets say If someone wants to fix you up on a date with a girl and if they show you a picture of her first thing in the morning looking like a hag in face cream vs a later picture of her with her war paint on ready to go out on the town. What one would make you want to go out with her. Selling this car to the unwashed non Camaro fan is just the same and very important to grow sales.
While many here understand and are forgiving of the short comings because they are Camaro fans and know more is to come. But there are many who have yet become Camaro fans that a picture of the unfinished car leaves a poor impression even before the car can show them what it is really all about.
Right now the right thing to do is just let it rest till there is a proper car ready for a photo and marketing can build on that.

Rules are rules and when it comes the GM corp. security they take things like this very seriously. Sure this seems ok because the picture is quite like the concept and we've all seen that but GM must maintain strict guidelines to leaking of any kind of Corp. info, pics or data. So while the automotive competition, Toyota, Ford, Chrysler may not care as much about this pic. They would if the next Gen Hummer or Silverado pic. showed up on the net. The industy is fiercely competitive and any insight gained by the opposition can hurt you.
I've never seen the black suburbans but I have seen the an equally scary view of stern faced men in suits holding folders of evidence and walking people away from their desks.

I feel bad someone's going to get fired for taking a picture of GM's top secret camaro design that's been at every auto show for the last 2 years
