I can certainly understand why a person would come up with this idea, since most people that know anything about this car knows it's spelled 'camaro' and most even have a hate for it spelled any other way.

However, I do hope any incoming info is right, as long as it's positive. So I'll just try to give the man the benefit of the doubt.

I hope you're not in charge of making the "Camaro" nameplate. As far a being on the pilot team, in our recent shelf agreement between GM and the CAW, wasn't one of the conditions that GM would use outsourced personnel to do all the pre-work?

yea last time I checked there were 35 years of Camaro's produced on the F-body platform no less. The only relation this car will have to that line is the name.

It looks like April '08 before any Camaros are built in Oshawa. With saleable production models rolling out at the beginning of '09.

not sure I agree with this. What is an F Body? I thought the original was modified from a Nova or another car. Rather than a Nova, the 5th gen shares parts with the Commodore. I know Im a little ignorant on this but wasnt the 1st gen F bod just the name for the Firebird and Camaro because they happened to be those exact dimensions even though they shared many parts with other cars?

I believe the frame rails, body shells and what not were unique ti anything else in GM. F is the body code unique to the Camaro and Firebird. No matter which generation.

bingo, the F is the Vin character to ID the Body type(5th diget IIRC)

I can tell you F in VIN did not exist in the first Gen.

A 69 VIN would look something like this

124379N(######)

1=Chevrolet
2= CAMARO
4= V8
3= Coupe
7= Fixed Digit
9= 1969
N= Norwood
###### = Sequential number starting from 500000

Its neat but does it matter? It was not in there through the 1st gen. GM may even put it in come production... I think sharing parts and enginnering costs will be a good thing. I like the idea of borrowing parts from the Vette on the same token. Like the motor!
